Mr. Smith grew up on the last dairy farm in Passaic, NJ. Upon graduating high school he entered the banking business. After 32 years he retired from banking as Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer. Since then he has been involved in various entrepreneurial enterprises; real estate related entities and the hospitality industry.
Mr. Smith obtained a B.S. degree in Accounting from Rutgers University and also graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He has been on the Board of Trustees of Sussex County Community College since 2001 and currently serves as its Chairman. In the past he has also served as Chairman of the college’s Foundation.
During the past several years he has been active in various community groups and has served as Past Chair of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, the Sussex County Economic Partnership, past President – Vernon Chamber of Commerce and is a former Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Mr. Smith resides in Vernon with his wife, Allison. He is the father of three adult children and has two grandchildren.
