Program Description

The AAS degree in Criminal Justice is designed for the Criminal Justice Professional ( both active and retired) working in the field of law enforcement , corrections , community corrections and private security. To be eligible for this program, students must have at least five (5) years of active service in the field. The knowledge and skills attained in this degree can sharpen your skills and advance your career. Students have the unique opportunity to achieve life/work experience credits and attain an expertise in portfolio development. This degree program offers a flexible yet structured plan designed to assist the Criminal Justice Professional in achieving their educational and advancement goals.

REQ REQUIRED COURSES (18 cr.)
  All students intending to enroll in the program must first take CRJS288. Credit for Prior Work Experience (Portfolio Assessment) will be granted after successful completion of this course. Two additional CRJS designation courses listed below are also required.

Students will also be granted 9 credits of transfer work for completion of an approved Criminal Justice Academy. Approved Academies are on file in the SCCC Office of the Registrar.

  The value of the block of credits granted for Prior Work Experience (Portfolio Assessment) will be between 0-21 credits and is based on documented life-work experience in the field of Criminal Justice.
