4th Annual Skylander 5 and 10 K Challenge

The Skylander 5 and 10 K Challenge runs will be held Sunday, October 2, 2011 on the Sussex County Community College campus. These two USATF-certified events include a challenging 10-kilometer race and a 5-kilometer event. Walkers are welcome in the 5K event. Proceeds benefit the Sussex County Community College Foundation and student scholarships.

ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT NOON ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH.

Completed forms can be hand delivered to race director at SCCC (Exec. Offices in Administration Building B) up until 5 pm on 9/30.  Runners can also register from 7 – 8:40 am on Race Day.

The registration fee is $25. Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female runners, male and female SCCC students and top 3teams. Additional awards will be given by 10 year age groups 7 to 70-plus. Scoring is by Elite Racing.

Members of Sparta Runners Club laid out the all-road course to showcase the beautiful SCCC campus. Both runs follow the same route that runs through and around the main campus. Runners will start in the upper campus and finish at the Lakeland Pavilion in the campus center making for a fast “net” downhill run. The courses are USATF certified.

Sponsorships are still available for area businesses and organizations for this important event benefiting higher education in Sussex County.
