This exciting program is for students who wish to complete an Associate in Liberal Arts Degree with an Elementary/Secondary Education Option and Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with Teacher Certification through Centenary College all on the SCCC campus.
- Students first complete an Associate degree in Liberal Arts with an Elementary/Secondary Education Option at Sussex County Community College .
- Students continuing on for the Bachelor's Degree must meet Centenary's admission requirements (i.e. 2.75 cumulative GPA) and abide by all of Centenary's academic policies as well as those of the English and Education Programs.
- Students may choose either Elementary Education (K-5) or Secondary Education (K-12) certification.
- Students may attend full or part time. SCCC courses are offered day and evening. Centenary courses are daytime only.
- Students choose courses that will be offered in a sequence to lead them to degree completion. Efforts are made to schedule classes at times that seem to be best for the majority of participants.
- During the semester that the courses Principles and Practices and Curriculum Design are being completed, students apply for admission into Centenary’s Department of Education, a process that includes an interview and passing the Praxis I exam.
- Student Teaching is considered full-time status for tuition purposes. All student teaching can be performed in Sussex County.
- The Bachelor's degree will be awarded by Centenary College and successful students will be recommended for teacher certification to the State Department of Education by Centenary College.
