This option under the AA in Liberal Arts prepares students for transfer to a four-year college who wish to teach in elementary or secondary schools. Students must satisfy the transfer requirements of the four-year college to gain admittance into that college and its teacher certification program at the time of transfer.
As teaching positions become increasingly available, the Elementary/Secondary Education Option is becoming one of the preferred programs at Sussex County Community College . New Jersey certification requires that students complete a discipline major (i.e. English, Mathematics, Biology, Social Studies) and a professional sequence of courses in education. Therefore, students should select elective courses in their discipline area.
