12/16/2014 - The Sussex County Community College men's basketball team overcame a 21 point deficit to defeat Orange CCC 59-57 scoring the winning basket with 2.4 seconds remaining.  The Skylanders found themselves down 23-2 midway through the first half with Orange controlling the run of play.  Sussex then rallied to outscore Orange 39-25 in the second half to complete the comeback.  Tyler Nichols (Wallkill Valley HS) was the leading scorer with 19 points, followed by Patrick McNamera (Hopatcong HS) with 16 points. 4/23/2014 - Kelsee Tironi and Craig Tomkins both received the Athletic Council Student Excellence Award for the 2013-2014 academic year. Both students were returning players for basketball, while Kelsee also competed in women's soccer. Craig Tomkins (Belvidere HS) was team’s MVP for 2012-2013 as well as the 2013-2014 seasons.  He was named captain his sophomore year and averaged 19 PPG where he ranked in the top 40 of the nation. June 9, 2011  In what has become a common theme at Sussex County Community College, a group of Skylanders' student-athletes have qualified to become National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic All-Americans. This year however, the group is larger than usual, with ten Skylanders earning the prestigious recognition.  Ten Skylanders representing five of the six sports offered at SCCC will officially be honored with the Academic All-American title later this summer when the NJCAA publishes the names of those who achieved the necessary qualifications.  Women's soccer under Head Coach Oscar Ortiz is reposnsible for half of the SCCC contingent of Academic All-Americans. Domonic Esson shoots vs Brookdale

2/17/11  When Domonic Esson came to Sussex two years ago from Harford Connecticut, he had intentions of being an immediate impact player. While his chance to do just that may have come a little later than he hoped, Esson shined all season for the Skylanders and has been recognized with both conference and region honors.  After the 2009-2010 season in which Domonic Esson was used off the bench, high roster turnover and lots of work over the summer paved the way for Esson to make his mark.  In '09-10, Domonic averaged 7.8 points per game, making just three, 3 point shots.
