Melissa Kanouse becomes the single season wins leader by notching her 22nd win

5/1/11 SCCC - 2, Middlesex CC - 1   The Skylanders edged out Middlesex County College Colts, 2-1, today in the third and deciding game of the first round of the Region XIX playoffs. Both teams split the two games played yesterday at Skylanders Softball Park forcing the third game today also in Newton.  Sussex staked sophomore pitcher Melissa Kanouse (Morris Catholic) to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning when, with two outs, freshman shortstop Leslie Ferrari (Newton) laced a double to right center field. 4/23/11 Game 1: SCCC - 2, Camden CC - 1 Game 2: SCCC - 9, Camden CC - 1  Clutch hitting and excellent pitching helped provide the Skylanders a doubleheader sweep over Region XIX and GSAC opponent Camden County College yesterday on the Skylanders Softball Field.  The first game saw a scoreless game through four innings before the Cougars cracked the ledger in the top of the 5th. 4/22/11  Game 1: SCCC - 7, Middlesex CC - 6 Game 2: SCCC - 10, Middlesex CC - 11  Both ends of the doubleheader between region and conference opponents, SCCC and the Middlesex County College Colts ended in one run games, with each team notching a win.  In the first game, Middlesex jumped out with four runs in the first inning, only to be answered by SCCC scoring three runs of their own.  The Skylanders went ahead 5-4 in the 3rd inning when sophomore Kelli Costa (Lenape Valley) scored on a fielders choice to tie the game at four. 4/20/11 Game 1: SCCC - 0, Brookdale CC - 2 Game 2: SCCC - 0, Brookdale CC - 1  Excellent pitching by sophomore Melissa Kanouse (Morris Catholic) and solid defense all around only provided two of the necessary three components to win yesterday vs. Brookdale Community College in Lincroft yesterday.  Kanouse struck out five Jersey Blues batters in each game and yielded 7 hits in each game as well as she mixed speeds keeping opposing batters off balance.
