Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Homecare/Hospice Module

This 12-hour course will allow a Certified Nursing Assistant (current NJ Certification required) to become dual certified as a Homemaker-Home Health Aide/Hospice Aide. This course will focus on personal care services in the home setting, cultural diversity, and foundations for a safe client environment, nutrition, housekeeping, concepts of home care and caring for the terminally ill client. In addition the CNA will be introduced to the care of infants, children and family dynamics. The course will include a competency evaluation and certification exam to determine certification eligibility.

Upon satisfactorily meeting course criteria, application to the NJ Board of Nursing will be completed for the CHHA credential.

Prerequisites:
Current CNA certification (submit copy), clear understanding of spoken and written English, 2×2 passport picture, and CHHA certification fees of $65 submitted with application to the NJ board of Nursing. Students must also submit a “promise of employment” letter from a licensed Home Care Provider to enter the program.
