Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) ZZZ608A3
This 3-day* introductory fiber optic tech course is designed for anyone interested in becoming a Certified Fiber Optic Technician. This course combines theory and 85% hands-on activities to prepare you to take the CFOT exam, which is sanctioned by the Fiber Optics Association (FOA). The CFOT course introduces you to industry standards governing FTTD (Fiber To The Desk), FTTH (Fiber To The Home) and Distribution Cabling. You will learn to identify fiber types, recognize various connectors used in fiber installation; and install, terminate, splice, and properly test installed fiber cable to existing standards. You will explore the history and future of fiber optics and fiber optics capabilities and basic testing and troubleshooting. Note: You must pass both the written and hands-on exams, given and graded the final class day, to successfully pass this course. This course is recognized by The US Department of Labor and is sanctioned by the Fiber Optic Association (FOA)
Prerequisites: Basic working knowledge of computers. Ability to see and identify small items. Ability to speak and understand the English language.

Certified Fiber Optics Specialist in Testing & Maintenance (CFOS/T) ZZZ609A3
This 2-day (16-hour) advanced program is designed to offer specialist fiber optic training to anyone involved in the testing and maintenance of fiber optic networks. This course combines theory with 75% hands-on activities to teach you specific procedures to use when testing both multimode and single mode fiber optic
networks and to prepare you to take the CFOS/T exam, which is given and graded on the final class day. Proper maintenance of both inside and outside plant fiber optic networks is also discussed in detail. A focal point of this course is our general, easy to understand approach to fiber optics testing standards. We explain the variety of testing standards; equipment and technological
approaches used in fiber network testing and how to choose among them. Explore the overall spectrum of testing and maintenance of fiber optic networks to achieve a better comfort level and confidence in your ability to test and maintain both single and multi mode fiber optic networks. Subject matter includes a detailed study of ANSI/TIA/EIA-526-14A, OTDR Fundamentals and Uses, OTDR vs Insertion Loss Testing, Return Loss Testing, and Proper Maintenance of High-Performance Fiber Networks.

Prerequisites: CFOT course or another formal Fiber Optics Training Course within previous 6 months.
