Phlebotomy Technician


This 170-hour comprehensive program consists of 90 classroom hours, 30 hours of simulated lab, plus a 50 hour externship at Hackettstown/Warren Hospital. Course includes: medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection, specimen transport and processing, infection control and safety, quality control, confidentiality, and communication skills. Upon successful completion of this program, the student is eligible for national certification by AMT, fees of $120. Prerequisites: 18 years of age, HS diploma or GED, physical exam, fluid resistant lab coat, and protective eye wear. Externship requirements: Minimum of 100 venipunctures (25 in simulated lab), criminal background check (minimum of $104), physical exam with proof of immunization history including a 2-step Mantoux test. All costs associated with the externship requirements are the responsibility of the student and may be subject to change. Please note that externship hours are blended throughout the program and extend past the last didactic date of class.
