Fire Science Technology

Sussex County Community College offers both an AAS and a certificate option under the title of Fire Science Technology. Below is the description of the AAS degree description. Please see “Career Options” for more information about the certificate program.

The Fire Science Technology AAS program is designed to serve the career and volunteer fire fighter, industrial fire protection personnel, fire protection specialist or the recent high school graduate who has an interest in fire service. The program will be offered primarily in the evening for part-time students. Upon completion of the program, students will have attained the skills and knowledge to perform their current duties more effectively and to prepare them for greater levels of responsibility within the fire service system.

Career Options

The Fire Science Technology certificate program covers the same topics and course goals as the AAS program. Furthermore, courses completed to satisfy the requirements of the certificate program may be used to meet the requirements for the AAS degree in Fire Science Technology.

Fire Fighter: $23,000-$67,000
Fire Inspector: $47,000-$78,000
Fire Protection Engineer: $52,000-$70,000
