The Student Government Association (SGA) at Sussex County Community College (SCCC) recently announced their elected officers for the 2010/2011 academic year.
The new officers are Michael J. Moeller, President; Samantha Carter, Vice President; YeRin Lim, Treasurer; Lauren Bell, Secretary; and Christina Medina, Publicist.
Moeller is a communications/journalism major; Carter is a psychology major; Lim is a biology major; Bell was SGA Secretary for the 2010 Spring Semester and is majoring in business administration; and Medina is pursuing a career in nursing. All plan on transferring to four-year colleges after they earn their Associate’s Degrees from SCCC.
These new officers were elected by the SCCC student body, as all enrolled students are automatically members of the SGA. The SGA is responsible for raising issues of concern to students, serving as a communication link between the student body and administration, overseeing all student clubs and organizations on campus, and planning and participating in a range of student events throughout the year.
On Wednesday, May 12th, the SGA held its annual \”Transfer of Power” luncheon, in which the outgoing officers are officially replaced and are asked to advise the incoming officers on their plans for the upcoming year as well as answer any questions regarding tasks and challenges that face the SGA. Former President, Josh Sisco, and Vice President, Nicole Lewis, resigned their positions, allowing the incumbent officers to take over.
