5-11-2012 – This year, three spring sports athletes were selected to the Region XIX All Region Teams. Players were selected by coaches around the region who voted their choices for each position. All three athletes were strong leaders for their teams on and off the field.
Kyle Tomkins was the only player selected from the Skylanders baseball program, and he was voted to the Region XIX 2nd Team ALL Region. Tomkins, an infielder for Sussex, compiled a respectable batting average of .382 with 50 hits in 131 at-bats. Tomkins also drove in a team leading 26 RBI’s and lead the team in stolen bases with 12. He led the team with an OBP of .444 and boasted a fielding percentage of .930.
Jordan Ray and Abigail Stecher represented the Skylanders softball team this year. Stecher was selected to the Region XIX 3rd Team All Region as an infielder with a batting average of .391 earning 27 hits in 69 at-bats. She also drove in 13 RBI’s and added 15 runs of her own, while earning an on base percentage percentage of .440. Stecher ranked 2nd on her team for both batting average and on base percentage.
Jordan Ray was selected to the All GSAC team as well as the Region XIX 1st team All Region as an infielder. Jordan had an incredible year hitting with a batting average of .614 and an on base percentage of .690, both first in the nation for division III schools. Ray also hit 7 home runs, which tied the school record, and was 11th most in the nation. Ray led the team with 43 hits, 10 doubles, 32 RBI’s, and 24 runs scored out of 70 at-bats while boasting a fielding percentage of .926.
In addition, Jordan Ray was also voted as the #6 top player in the entire region.
