Paul Taylor established Taylor 2 in 1993 to ensure that his works could be seen by audiences all over the world. Working with longtime colleague Linda Hodes, he modeled Taylor 2 after the original six-member company he established in 1954. Taylor chooses dances that represent the athleticism, humor and range of emotions found in his work. More than a half-century ago, he became the youngest member of the pantheon that created American modern dance. Taylor is acclaimed for the vibrancy, relevance and power of his dances. He may propel his dancers through space for the sheer beauty of it, or use them to wordlessly illuminate war, spirituality, morality and mortality.
