Sussex County Community College will be offering a seven week training program leading to certification as a Home Health Aide, one of the fastest growing jobs in the U.S. As home healthcare needs rise, the availability of qualified, caring individuals in this growing field becomes ever more essential.
The program, offered through its Health Sciences Department, consists of 60 classroom hours and 16 clinical hours, and is taught by a team of experienced Registered Nurses.
Home Health Aides provide individualized care to the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities in hospice facilities or patients’ homes. Health Aides provide hands-on health-related patient care by helping patients bathe, dress, and eat, and they monitor the patients’ temperature, pulse and respiration rates.
The next program at SCCC will begin Tuesday, March 4th, and registrations are currently being accepted. Classes will meet Tuesday and Wednesdays, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at SCCC. Individuals interested in learning about grant or scholarship opportunities can contact Gail Roffe at 973/300-2149.
