SCCC Offers Opportunity for Free Healthcare Training and Certification

Individuals interested in training to become a Nurse Aide, Home Health Aide, Coding and Billing Specialist, EKG or Phlebotomy Technician, or Medical Office Assistant, are invited to attend an information session at Sussex County Community College on Thursday, April 3rd at 6:00 p.m. or Friday, April 4th at 1:00 p.m. to learn more about these certificate programs. SCCC has been selected for participation in a federally funded demonstration project that provides free training and support to income qualified individuals wishing to pursue careers in the growing field of health care. Through the assistance of the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG) Program, eligible candidates will be selected through a lottery system to receive free training. The grant is a funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families.

Assistant Dean of Health Sciences and Auxiliary Education Programs, Kathleen Nelson said, “The Health Professions Opportunity Grant offers a wonderful opportunity for those interested in achieving certification in healthcare professions to acquire the education they need to pursue a rewarding career path.”
