Tironi and Tomkins Receive Excellence Awards

4/23/2014 – Kelsee Tironi and Craig Tomkins both received the Athletic Council Student Excellence Award for the 2013-2014 academic year. Both students were returning players for basketball, while Kelsee also competed in women’s soccer.

Craig Tomkins (Belvidere HS) was team’s MVP for 2012-2013 as well as the 2013-2014 seasons.  He was named captain his sophomore year and averaged 19 PPG where he ranked in the top 40 of the nation. Tomkins was also 4th in the nation in free throw attempts as well as in the top 15 in the nation in the following categories: offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, total rebounds, and rebounds per game. He was voted to the 3rd team All Region XIX team, has a true cumulative GPA of over 3.0, and was selected to the fall semester’s Academic All Region Team.

Kelsee Tironi (Wallkill HS), was this year’s captain for soccer and was captain of the women’s basketball team for the past 2 years.  This year she scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists for soccer and was leader both on and off the field and was voted to the 2nd team All Region XIX and All GSAC Teams.  For basketball, Kelsee broke the school record for career points with 741 in 2 seasons and also shattered the school record for career 3 pointers made with 147. She made the Academic All Region team 4 times in the last 2 years, has a cumulative GPA of over a 3.80, and is on pace to be an Academic All American this year.
