Article Posted -- November 7, 2017

Addiction is everyone’s problem. There are a growing number of loved ones facing addiction today. The stigma of addiction keeps those¬† issues silent among family and friends who feel they are facing the problem alone. Please join us for “Breaking the Stigma of Addiction”,¬† #NoMoreShame, on Thursday, November 16th in the Student Center Theater. The event will take place from 6 pm until 8 pm.

This event is focused around how sharing your story can help others and that you don’t have to be ashamed to be in recovery or to be a family member or friend of someone who currently uses or is in recovery. There is help out there, and the community needs to learn how they can help.

Special Guest Speakers include:

  • Newton Mayor Wane Levante
  • Chief Michael Richards, Newton Police Dept.
  • Director of Recovery Services, Annmarie Shafer, The Center for Prevention
  • Motivational Speakers in long-term recovery
