Sussex County Community College’s long awaited Skylanders Mascot has been unveiled.  At a recent College gathering, the Athletic and Marketing Departments unveiled the new mascot to students, faculty and staff. The event gave students the chance to gather and share in the excitement plus win prizes embellished with the new mascot.

The development phase of the project took several months, and the College is thrilled to finally have a mascot that will represent the spirit that surrounds the campus.  The mascot will be used to express a sense of pride at the College and also be a part of the College’s branding. Our athletic teams have been doing an incredible job and we want our mascot to be a part of their celebration and accomplishments.

SCCC surveyed 100 athletes, coaches and administration, at a nearby 4-year college, with the three mascot designs. With their valuable feedback, the mascot committee at SCCC made recommendations and revisions to the company designing the Skylanders Mascot.

“We are so excited to finally share our new mascot with the college community, stated John Kuntz, associate dean of students and athletic director. “This new mascot will be a symbol of pride for not only our athletes but the entire student body.”

The company that created the logo is in the process of creating the costume that will be worn at athletic or special events on campus.

The athletic program at SCCC is also in the final stages of forming their men’s lacrosse program which will begin in the spring of 2019. A women’s team will soon follow.
