Skylands Professional Training at Sussex County Community College offers a 476-hour Pilates Instructor Certification Program as part of its Continuing Education Healthcare Career Program. Pilates is a multibillion-dollar industry established in the early 20th century and is currently one of the most popular approaches to movement, balance, and toning.

The Pilates Instructor Certification, which is built on the methodology of the DualStar™ Pilates Institute, offers a diverse array of benefits. The program provides mastery in the use of all standard Pilates’ equipment, enables students to design safe, individualized, effective workouts by familiarizing them with basic human anatomy, and teaches students the business practices needed to run a successful studio.

SPT’s Pilates Instructor Certification Program is appropriate for a wide range of people. Experienced Pilates instructors, Pilates enthusiasts with no prior teaching experience, physical therapists, students majoring in exercise science, dance, equestrian training, or a similarly physical field of study, can all benefit from completing the program. In addition, Pilates Instructor certification can also be beneficial to massage therapists as an additional source of revenue.

This intensive program of study, which includes online classroom and studio instruction, begins May 29th with “Introduction to Mat Pilates” and “Pilates Mat 1 & 2”. There will be a mandatory Orientation on May 22nd at 6:00 pm for registered students. The orientation will be held at the Synergy Pilates Studio in Newton.

Upon successful completion of Mat 2, one can seek employment as a Certified Pilates Mat Instructor. Students completing the Mat series are eligible to continue in the fall with the remaining courses to become a Certified Pilates Instructor. The remaining classes include “Introduction to Pilates Apparatus,” “Pilates Reformer Certification,” “Pilates Cadillac Tower Certification,” “Pilates Chair Certification,” and “Exero ™ System Certification.”
Classes are held online and the Synergy Pilates Center in Newton.

Prospective students should call Dianne Czar at 908-835-2333 for more information or visit sussex.edu/skylands.
