There are two divisions that operate under this Program: Project Success and Special Needs.

Project Success is an outreach program for the certified learning disabled student. The academic needs of the certified learning disabled (LD) college student are unique and varied. The project accommodates LD students who are otherwise qualified to pursue their academic goals. Benefits of this program may include counseling and advisement, study skills, and self-advocacy.

Special Needs encompasses a broader variety of individuals with either emotional or physical disabilities. Academic or facilities accommodations are made on a case by case basis and are determined by the strength of supporting documentation provided to the Disabilities Assistance Program adviser by the student.

Students who require accommodations in order to pursue their higher education goals need to make an appointment with the adviser to the Disabilities Assistance Program (300-2153). The DAP office is located in the Learning Center. It is the student’s responsibility to provide current and comprehensive documentation, which would warrant such accommodation. The need to provide documentation applies to both academic and facilities accommodations.

Information pertaining to an individual’s disabilities is considered STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL. For that reason, students interested in seeking accommodations must be aware that it is their responsibility to inform their faculty of their personal needs in terms of either academic or facilities arrangements. The adviser to the Disabilities Assistance Program’s role is to coordinate and mediate, when necessary, between the faculty or staff member and student only after disclosure of a disability has been made by the student to that faculty or staff member.
