Reference resources:
Use specialized encyclopedias and dictionaries to find background information before you start your research. This is important when studying the sciences, as the information you read may contain unfamiliar concepts and technical terms.

R 503.21 MAC McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms Provides good definitions of scientific terminology.
R 503 MAC McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology A good place to look for an introduction to scientific concepts.
R 636.089 MER Merck Veterinary Manual This is a concise reference for information on diseases and treatment.
R 636.089 BLU Veterinary Drug Handbook
R 636.089 CHR Veterinary Medical Terminology
Science reference works are located in the 500-600 area of the reference section. Veterinary reference works are found in the 636.089 area of the reference section.
Print resources available in the Library:
The Library subscribes to print editions of scholarly and professional journals, including science and veterinary journals, popular magazines and newspapers. These may be used in the Library. Search the Online Catalog by subject or title. Refer to the Library's 'Periodicals by Subject' list. Or, browse the Periodicals Shelving area.
