Sculpture Garden Walking Tour at SCCC

The sculptures on the campus of Sussex County Community College are the work of artist Don Gerola. On Wednesday, May 3, at 6 p.m. you are invited to join the artist for a sculpture garden walking tour. Please meet outside the Sussex Bank Theater at SCCC.

Don Gerola studied Physics at the University of Dayton, Ohio. The year 1974 was pivotal in opening a “doorway” to the artistic path, a heartbeat, and a life commitment! After several years creating exquisite graphic super murals, Gerola pioneered a signature sand fresco technique on canvas and board. In 1980 he completed a monumental water fountain – computer controlled with laser beams and jets of flaming gas! The evolution created two 25’ mobiles that were the Centerpiece of the Washington, D.C. and New York International Art Expos. His dream of fabricating “Monumental Structures” will probe the laws of gravity and impact the world of sculpture.
