SIORA
"Creating a soundscape that needs no translation, multicultural and multilingual SIORA takes songs from around the world, from Latin America to Europe to the Middle East and beyond, and transforms them using the universal language of jazz." (William Page, Straight No Chaser). Their original compositions in English cover provocative issues of global significance (with special emphasis on the environment). SIORA features vocalist/ guitarist/dancer Phyllis Chapell and keyboardist/composer Dan Kleiman with bass, drums and optional percussion, flute and saxophone. Their JazzWeek Top 50 release Vis-á-vis received a 4* rating by the All Music Guide.
SIORA's repertoire consists of songs in over 10 languages from Brazil and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, all with SIORA's unique arrangements. SIORA presents "Musical Mosaics: A World Jazz Workshop" that teaches global harmony and cooperation and celebrates with music and dance the "mosaic" that is our world. |

Uncle Floyd
Uncle Floyd, an all-around performer, will bring his vaudeville show to Sussex County Community College on Thursday, July 19. The performance will take place at 6:45 p.m. on the Connor Green, rain or shine. Uncle Floyd will conclude another successful season of SCCC’s “Thursdays on the Green,” summer music and entertainment series. The evening performance is free and the public is invited to attend. Please bring your own blanket or chair to enjoy the performance.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey on October 19, 1951, Uncle Floyd began his career in show business as a child performer, giving piano recitals and appearing as a dancer with Sandra Lee and Jill Davison.
