EKG Program

EKG Program

The EKG Program is designed to stand alone or be added to other professional certificates in order to increase skill sets that will open students up to more or better job opportunities. This 60 hour program can be completed in just 5 weeks and the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exam can be taken right here on the SCCC campus.

This entry-level clinical course explains the purposes for and the concepts behind electrocardiography. The student learns the physiological steps of the cardiac cycle and its electrocardiograph reading. Skills are developed in the identification and elimination of artifacts. The mounting and labeling of completed EKG readings, as well as the care and maintenance of equipment are reviewed. Inherent within this lesson are the concepts of patient modesty and the importance of proper patient preparation for accurate testing results.

Students completing the EKG Program are eligible to site for the NHA Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam.
