Emergency Medical Technician
The EMT course at SCCC is designed to teach the emergency care and transportation of the sick and injured prior to pre-hospital care. The course at SCCC is approved by the
New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, and Office of Emergency Medical Services. This course concludes with a New Jersey State Certification Exam.
The EMT course is 190 hours in length and runs for 15 weeks. Classes run during the day in the spring and in the evenings and every other Saturday in the fall.
Spring: Public Safety Training Academy, Newton, NJ
Fall: Sheriff Emergency Preparation Bureau, Newton, NJ
• Apply online at sussex.edu/admissions or complete an application and return it to the Admissions Office. You will be issued a student ID #.
• Provide proof of age. EMT students who are at least 16 years of age but not yet 18 years of age will be awarded a provisional certification that will become a full certification upon reaching 18 years of age).
• Submit the EMT Training Fund Certificate Eligibility form signed by the chief supervising officer of the squad with which you are affiliated, if appropriate.
• Submit proof of CPR certification at the first class session.
