Social Media Marketing

The Internet and social media have forever changed our world, and the global impact on our personal and professional lives is here to stay. Social media has altered and refined the way we communicate, write, work, receive news, find information, educate, shop, and entertainment ourselves. This modern and forward-thinking degree brings students up-to-speed with the advanced uses, communication techniques, business opportunities, and trends from the growing realm of social media. Students will explore traditional marketing theory and strategy and the application of new best practices for a user-driven market. Students learn how to target and engage online communities, growing them and using them to spread brand messaging to new audiences. They will examine the growing impact of social media throughout our global society, and how it can be used to influence the future of communication, marketing, journalism, politics, entertainment, public relations, and much more.

Graduates of this program will demonstrate the ability to:
Analyze the history of visual culture and design theory, and apply historical relevance in the context of modern industry issues and trends
Execute technical, aesthetic, and conceptual decisions based on an understanding social media and graphic design.
Solve creative problems within the field of social media and graphic design, including research, concept development, design, and production.
Demonstrate proficiency with technology related to social media and design production.
Evaluate, defend and describe one’s work. Analyze and critique peer projects using constructive comments and professional terminology
Collaborate effectively in a professional production environment, and with clients while working with creative constraints and deadlines.
Communicate ideas professionally using visual, oral, and written presentation skills relevant to the industry.
Produce a body of work suitable for seeking professional opportunities in the field of social media and graphic design.



Career Options

Upon receiving the Social Media Marketing AAS, degree holders can pursue careers in entry-level positions.
