the course “Introduction to the American Legal System” for anyone
interested in being an informed citizen or seeking a new law related career. Gallo
said, “The Intro to the American Legal System course is the perfect first
course to take if you have an interest in the law and are wondering if a
career as a paralegal or attorney is the right fit for you. The course
provides an overview of a wide variety of law topics, offers discussion of
current events, visits area courtrooms and reviews the career opportunities in
the legal system.”

Gallo has practiced law in both Florida and New Jersey
and is a trained mediator. Prior to law school, she was a public school
teacher, features editor and award-winning newspaper reporter and worked as a paralegal.

While an SCCC faculty member, she received a
National Endowment for the Humanities funded grant for the study, “Paul
Robeson, 20th Century Humanist and Lawyer.”

Prof. Gallo is the author of the
textbooks, “Introduction to Family Law” published as part of the West Legal
Studies Series, and “Elder Law” published by Delmar/Thompson Publishing.

She is an active public speaker on varied topics and has been
a frequent presenter at the American Paralegal Association’s national and
regional conferences. Additionally, Gallo was the writer and producer of
“Legal Briefs,” a radio show. She has a primary research
interest in elder law and the issues of aging in 21st century life. She is the
founding director of the Senior Life Center at S.C.C.C. and is looking forward
to bringing topics to the Center that promote invigorating lifelong learning
