Academic Advisement

If you will have completed 24 or fewer credits you will be asked to visit the Counseling and Advising Center for advisement. However, if your major is one of the following, you will be assigned a faculty member as an advisor: Accounting, Chemistry, Child Development, Graphic Design, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Liberal Arts/Anthropology Option, Liberal Arts/Dramatic Arts Option, Paralegal Studies, Studio Arts/Design or Photography.

If you have completed 25 or more credits, you will be assigned a faculty member as an advisor and will be notified by a letter in the mail.

Priority registration provides an opportunity for currently enrolled students to select their classes before new and transfer students. No appointment is necessary to meet with a counselor, and it is recommended that you seek advisement in advance of the registration dates. Next semester’s schedule of courses can be found via the My.Sussex Portal course search, or in the Course Guide (also available in the Counseling and Advising Center).

You can keep track of which courses you have taken and still require by following your major’s checksheet. Checksheets are available online, in the College Catalog, and in the Counseling and Advising Center.
