Personal Counseling

The SCCC Student Advisement Center offers short-term personal counseling for crisis management and personal concerns including:

  • Depression
  • Sexual abuse/domestic violence
  • Anxiety /stress
  • Alcohol/substance abuse
  • Eating disorders
  • Grief/bereavement/loss
  • Identity issues
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Self esteem/image
  • Setting personal or education goals

Personal Counseling is:
Private, Confidential, Free of Charge
Monday – Thursday 8am-6:30pm
Friday 8am-5pm (Summer 8am-1pm)

Appointments can be made through The Student Advisement Center
Counselors are available for crisis intervention during all hours the Center is open.

Personal Counseling

The Student Advisement Center provides a supportive and professional environment promoting the exploration and development of individual strengths that encourage academic success and personal growth. Personal counselors assist students in making decisions about career choices, educational programs, college transfer, and personal concerns. Counselors follow the principle that individual concerns merit privacy and confidentiality. All records and information revealed during personal counseling are confidential, although there are circumstances under which confidential information must be shared. The SCCC Student Advisement Center follows the guidelines presented by the American Counseling Association and the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics. Both state that disclosing information that could prevent clear and imminent harm to the client or others is not a violation of privacy.
