Part time, temporary, grant-funded ABE/HSE/ESOL Program College and Career Readiness Counselor
Provides transition services to connect students with post-secondary education, training or employment. Create and/or post online resumes. Provide Employability and Life Skills instruction.
- Provide transition services to connect students with post-secondary education, training or employment.
- Counsel students according to College and Career Readiness Standards to assist students in increasing their literacy level and in achieving their cohort goals; gain a High School Diploma or HSE, obtain and/or retain employment, increase earnings, enter post-secondary education or occupational training.
- Provides Employability and Life Skills instruction to assist students with obtaining and retaining employment. Connects students to One Stop career services, and MSW Employment and Training services.
- Conducts and interprets a range of diagnostic testing for students.
- Maintains accurate and comprehensive student records with all state mandated forms for inclusion in the official grant reports as well as monitoring by the state.
- Facilitates student enrollment in post-secondary education. Aid with registration, Accuplacer testing and preparation, financial aid, scholarship application and counseling for transition into SCCC and other college programs.
- Creates and/or posts online resumes with all students.
- Provide computer instruction for access and navigation of job search websites, college websites, and for test-taking and filling out job applications online.
- Stays current with new developments and innovations in Adult Education and College and Career Readiness. Attends all mandatory training and participates in relevant professional development and webinars.
- Creates partnerships with service providers in the community and with staff at SCCC and work well as part of the team.
- Performs other job related duties as requested.

EDUCATION -
- Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in one or more of the following areas: Counseling, Education, Adult Education, College and Career Readiness Counseling
Essential Skills:
- Knowledge and experience in education or an instructional setting
- Experience in counseling, job search navigation
- Strong math, writing, and literacy skills
- Computer skills – Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CASAS, Laces
- Experience in diagnostic testing and interpretation.
- Well organized, detail oriented with the ability to multitask
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work autonomously with little supervision.
