Job Description

The Adjunct Instructor provides training for students enrolled in the curriculum of the Fire Science Program as prescribed by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) and the New Jersey Administrative Code.

  1. Provides instruction and training in classroom lectures. Prepares and distributes course outlines/syllabi to students.
  2. Maintains academic progress and attendance rosters as assigned.
  3. Participates in workshops and trainings.
  4. Serves on Campus committees as needed.
  5. Assists in the development and delivery of material and instructional lesson plans.
  6. Identifies students requiring assistance and recommends improvements as needed.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures.
  8. Possess well-developed communication skills (Verbal and Written).
  9. Possess an aptitude for teaching and interest in working with students.
  10. Ability to positively interact with staff, students, and faculty.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Fire Engineering, Hazardous Materials, Public Safety, or a closely related field. The degree must be from a regionally accredited institution. Fire Instructor 1 or the ability to achieve Fire Instructor 1 within 6 months.
