Job Description

Sussex County Community College is currently looking for an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for its upcoming season.  The Assistant Coach is responsible for carrying out duties assigned by the Head Coach.  These duties include recruitment of student athletes, teaching fundamentals and strategies of the sport, providing insight and making recommendations for adjustments during games.  The Assistant Coach should have the following qualities:  knowledge of the sport, commitment, and strong communication skills.

Main Duties

  • Provide assistance in the recruitment of student athletes.
  • Monitor student athletes' academic progress and provide direction to student athletes seeking academic assistance.
  • Teach all aspects of the sport.
  • Transport student athletes to and from game competition.
  • Keep meaningful records and statistics of game competition and help in reporting/posting this info to/on various sources.
  • Be familiar with all NJCAA, GSAC and Region XIX rules.
  • Promote proper sportsmanship and conduct with all student athletes.
  • Fulfill all head coaching responsibilities in the absence of the head coach.

 

Qualifications

  • AA Degree preferred.
  • Previous experience playing/coaching Basketball required.
  • Knowledge of rules associated with Basketball.
  • Valid driver's license required.
