Job Description

This full-time Chemistry faculty will teach first year and second year Chemistry courses as well as oversee and coordinate the Chemistry Labs. The faculty member will contribute to student success. Duties will include serving on college committees and participating in department affairs. Faculty member will advise students and provide expertise in chemistry pedagogy to faculty and students across disciplines, and will supervise day-to-day operations of chemistry labs. Faculty member is expected to participate in collegial activity with peers, to participate in on-going professional development and scholarly activities, and to be involved with the college governance process.

Teaches a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester.

Teaches day and evening including online/hybrid classes.

Prepares syllabi and curriculum materials.

Participates in assessment of student learning outcomes.

Ability to work with the broad spectrum of student found in a community college environment.

Advises and mentors students.

Serves on college committees including the college governance process.

Contributes to Department affairs.

Participates in collegial activity with peers.

Partakes in professional development.

Possesses outstanding organizational skills.




  • Doctorate preferred; Master’s degree in Chemistry.
  • Two to four years teaching at the Community College level




  • Teach first year and second year chemistry classes
  • Integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Utilize technology in creating presentations and content for the classroom and online using the learning management system adopted by the College.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the academic discipline.
  • Use of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to the teaching of assigned courses.
  • Contribute to student success.
  • Ability to work in a collegial environment.
  • Ability to work for an organization that believes in academic freedom, freedom of speech, caring regard for colleagues and students, and shared ownership through collaboration.
  • Supervisory skills (references preferred)
  • Chemical safety and hygiene training preferred.
