Federal Work Study / Student Worker Position for the Writing Center – Writing Coaches


Federal Work Study Position for Currently Enrolled and Eligible SCCC Students Only*

Work Study positions available at the SCCC Writing Center – Writing Coaches. The Writing Coach provides one-on-one support to student who want to help with their writing. Duties to include; assisting students with analyzing assignments and crafting a strategy for completing the assignment, assisting in editing and proofreading, note taking, registering new students and updating the Writing Center Database to track student’s progress. Training Provided. Writing Center Coaches should be proficient in academic writing as well as be familiar with MLA, APA and Chicago Manual formatting and familiar with Microsoft Word and Google Suite.

 *Federal Work-Study:

Federal Work-Study allows eligible students to earn money to help cover educational expenses by working within the college campus. Work Study Funds are paid directly to the student on a twice-monthly basis as earned.

To be eligible for Work-Study, you must:

  • Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student
  • Meet and maintain all SCCC Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements
  • Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Complete the verification process (if chosen)

Due to limited funding, not all students who are eligible will receive this award. If you are not awarded Work-Study, other employment opportunities are also available.

To be considered for work-study, you must submit the FAFSA at FAFSA.ed.gov

After your FAFSA has successfully processed and you have enrolled in courses for the FALL 2019 semester, email the SCCC Financial Aid Office at: finaid@sussex.edu to inquire about your eligibility or stop by the Financial Aid Office in B-212.
