Job Description

Main Duties:

The Head Coach is responsible for preparing and training his/her respective team for strong competition throughout their season.  The Head Coach should have the following qualities:  strong knowledge of their respective sport, strong motivational skill, and good communication skills.

1.  Recruit student athletes pertaining to respective sport.

2.  Conduct meaningful practice sessions. 

3. Coordinate playing game and scrimmage schedules.

4.  Transport student athletes to and from games and/or practices if needed. 

5.  Oversee care of equipment, inventory equipment per respective sport and make recommendations on purchases of equipment. 

6.  Report game results and information regarding respective sport to local media. 

7.  Keep current and update required websites regionally and nationally. 

8.  Assist athletic department to ensure academic proficiency of student athletes. 

9.  Become familiar with the NJCAA Eligibility rules, GSAC and Region rules and playing procedures. 

10.  Work within the administrative framework of Sussex CCC Athletic Department related to required paperwork, deadlines and knowledge of proper department outlined procedures. 

11.  Work with game officials and all game day personnel to promote proper sportsmanship and game day conduct within coaching staff, student athletes and spectators.
