Job Description

The Assistant Coach is responsible for aiding the Head Coach with preparing and training his/her respective team for strong competition throughout their season.  The Assistant Coach should have the following qualities: strong knowledge of their respective sport, strong motivational skill, and good teamwork skills.

 

Main Duties:

1) Assist Head Coach in the conducting of practice, including the running of drills, teaching of techniques, and instructing in a manner consistent with the Head Coach's philosophies. 

2) Aid Head Coach in evaluating both individual and team talents in regards to recruiting and opposing teams/players.

3) Collaborate with Head Coach with in-game information such as strategy, statistics, and game management as requested by the Head Coach.

4) Must be able to act as a liaison between Head Coach and players.

5) Transport student athletes to and from games and/or practices if needed.

6) Be prepared to conduct the duties of the Head Coach in the event of his/her absence.

7) Have a solid background in that sport and willingness to accept new ideas and philosophies.

8) Have excellent communication skills and be able to relate to students.

9) Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Previous playing/coaching of respective sport preferred. Knowledge of rules associated with sport required.  Valid driver's license required.
