Job Description

The Head Coach is responsible for preparing and training his/her respective team for strong competition throughout their season.  The Head Coach should have the following qualities:  strong knowledge of their respective sport, strong motivational skills and good communication skills.

Main Duties:

  1. Recruit student athletes pertaining to the respective sport.
  2. Conduct meaningful practice sessions.
  3. Coordinate playing games and scrimmage schedule.
  4. Transport student athletes to and from games and/or practices if needed.
  5. Oversee care of equipment, inventory equipment per respective sport and make recommendations on purchases of equipment.
  6. Report game results and information regarding respective sport to local media.
  7. Keep current and update required websites regionally and nationally.
  8. Assist athletic department to ensure academic proficiency of student athletes.
  9. Become familiar with the NJCAA Eligibility rules, GSAC and Region rules and playing procedures.
  10. Work within the administrative framework of Sussex County Community College Athletic Department related to required paperwork, deadlines and knowledge of proper department outlined procedures.
  11. Work with game officials and all game day personnel to promote proper sportsmanship and game day conduct within coaching staff, student athletes and spectators.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

AA Degree preferred. Previous playing/coaching of respective sport required. Knowledge of rules associated with sport required. Valid Driver’s license.

Salary:  $7,500.00 per semester
