Job Description

Part Time Peer Writing Consultant assists students in the Writing Center and provides assistances in all aspects of writing including writing across the disciplines.  This position provides instructional assistance to students through walk-in services as well as online and in-person appointments. Hours may vary from semester to semester.

  1. Maintain accurate consultant records.
  2. Work with students in the Writing Center
  3. Encourage students to summarize the peer consultant appointment.

Education:

  • Minimum of 12 Sussex County Community College credits with a GPA of 3.0 and above for student/peer consultants.

Essential Skills:

  • Sensitivity and desire to help fellow students who may be struggling with understanding subject matter
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple students at the tutoring table.
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Strong reading and writing skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work autonomously and with little supervision.

Salary:  $15.13 per hour
