Job Description

The Student-Athlete Success Advisor serves as a critical link between housing partnerships, protocols, student conduct and student success. The position serves as the housing liaison between SCCC and Centenary University to assist in communication. The position provides leadership and supervision in assisting students in navigating their transition throughout the collegiate student athlete experience. This person will support students in their exploration of educational and athletic goals by providing ongoing academic counseling and monitoring academic progress as it pertains to the College and the NJCAA.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist school Administration to ensure that Academic Standards and requirements for program seeking student-athletes are met in accordance with academic courses to ensure student success.
  2. Establishes a rapport and productive working relationship with various campus offices, including Financial Aid, Athletics, Student Success Center, and Security as it relates to supporting student-athletes.
  3. Assists students with academic, personal, and social concerns, making timely referrals.
  4. Utilize institutional data to assess and respond to student needs as needed.
  5. Provide programs and other proactive educational interventions to enhance the student-athlete experience.
  6. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity by promoting and attending campus & community multicultural events on campus.
  7. Works Collaboratively with the athletic office to assist with student-athlete eligibility concerns as needed.
  8. Analyzes and monitors academic registration, progress, and supplemental support of student­ athletes.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION:

Associate’s Degree Preferred

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  1. 1. Advising experience in a Higher Education environment.
  2. Familiarity with student services and higher education, including policies and procedures, academic requirements, campus resources and support services.
  3. Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population, including minority and international students.
  4. Ability to act as an advocate for both the student and the College.
  5. Ability to identify students’ needs for support services in order to make appropriate referrals.

Salary: $20.00 per hour
