SCCC Play - Arsenic and Old Lace

College students performing in a play.

The Visual and Performing Arts Department at Sussex County Community College presents Joseph Kesselring's timeless, thrilling comedy "Arsenic and Old Lace," directed by Professor Allison Ognibene.

The play takes place in the early 1940s in Brooklyn, New York, when drama critic Mortimer Brewster's engagement announcement is upended in the gravest encounters! Between his aunts' penchant for poisoning wine, a brother who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police—not to mention Mortimer's own hesitancy about marriage—it'll be a miracle if Mortimer makes it to his wedding. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic dark comedy about the only thing deadlier than poison: family.

Running two weekends, "Arsenic and Old Lace" show dates are Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 4, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for students, seniors and US military and can be purchased at the door or online by visiting https://sussex.simpletix.com.
