The Sussex County Community College (SCCC) Board of Trustees has unanimously appointed Dr Cory Homer as the College’s next President, following his successful service as Interim President since January 2025.
Dr. Homer’s journey with SCCC began in 2014, when he joined the institution as Associate Director of Institutional Research, following his M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Marywood University. In 2021, he completed his Ph.D. in Psychology from Grand Canyon University, with a focus on integrating psychology, technology, and learning.
With over a decade of experience at SCCC, Dr. Homer has held various leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President of Student Success and Institutional Effectiveness. His strategic leadership in that role helped drive a period of sustained enrollment growth, including a 6% increase in full-time equivalent enrollment and a 3% increase in total headcount in Spring 2025 compared to the previous year. Enrollment at SCCC has seen four consecutive semesters of upward momentum.
As Vice President of Student Success, Dr. Homer played a pivotal role in establishing the Skylands Research Institute. He also led the Strategic Enrollment Group, helping to shape key enrollment policies, and has served as a peer evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Dr. Homer also represents SCCC at the national level through his work with the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) Research Commission, supporting the development of college-high school academic partnerships.
“Dr. Homer’s student-centered leadership has not only stabilized enrollment but also elevated the College’s reputation for access and excellence,” said Herb Yardley, Chair of the SCCC Board of Trustees. “He is a trusted leader with a clear vision for the future of the College.”
Outside of academia, Dr. Homer is a native of Matamoras, Pennsylvania. He serves as the Mayor of the Borough of Matamoras, the Vice President and dive captain for the Westfall Township Volunteer Fire Department, and was the past president of the Delaware Valley School District Board of Education. His service in leadership positions demonstrates his enduring dedication to both education and the broader community.
