Healthcare Courses Offered at SCCC

A healthcare career provides opportunities to positively impact people's lives by promoting health, providing medical care, conducting research, and improving healthcare systems. It requires a strong commitment to serving others, continuous learning, and a passion for improving the well-being of individuals and communities.

Sussex County Community College is offering several courses to allow students to enter the healthcare field. Both courses will run this fall for eight weeks each. 

Electrocardiography & Cardiac Monitoring Technician

September 5-October 27, Tuesday/Thursday from 12:30-4:30 pm

This course prepares students to perform electrocardiography and other cardiac monitoring. It also trains them to interpret normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms. It enables them to work in healthcare as ECG, telemetry, or ambulatory cardiac monitoring technicians.

Phlebotomy and Specimen Collection Technician

October 30-December 22, Tuesday/Thursday from 12:30-4:30 pm

This course prepares students to perform various techniques venipuncture and capillary puncture (finger-stick) techniques for obtaining human blood specimens and other methods of collecting body specimens within a health care facility or laboratory setting while complying with OSHA Standards. It qualifies them to work in healthcare as lab or phlebotomy technicians.

Additional Course Information:

Additional Allied Health programs include an accredited Medical Assistant Certificate program, Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate of Achievement and an Associate Degree in Health Sciences.
