1/23/2019 3:28:57 PM

There’s no way to lose taking career development courses at Sussex County Community College. Employees link job satisfaction with learning opportunities and employers gain a prepared and knowledgeable staff.

Make everyone happy this spring by taking advantage of Skylands Professional Training at SCCC, a partnership between Sussex and Warren County Community College, offered in association with the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) and the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Conveniently hosted on the school’s main campus in Newton, These basic skills courses are offered through no-cost grant-funding for employees of NJ-based businesses, ranging from basic computer skills training to interpersonal communication.

Three levels of Microsoft Excel training will prepare employees to use this spreadsheet program in an office setting.

For more extensive data management, MS Access 2016 Level 1: Join, Manage, Filter & Sort Data with Queries & Custom Reports will prepare employees to manage data, create databases, design forms, and reports, and create queries to sort data. This two-day course will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 27-28.

Everyone uses the MS Word program, but are you using it effectively? Learn more about the broad scope of uses for the word processor in two levels of Word courses.

While technical skills are essential, interpersonal skills can affect the atmosphere of an office significantly. Positive interactions, clear communication, and intense conflict resolution all work together to create an atmosphere where employees want to work.

Two courses—Principles of Effective Communication and Strategies to Effectively Manage Conflict—seek to give employees and owner-operators a chance to foster positive work relations.

To be eligible for the no-cost class, employees must work at least 20 hours per week in their position. They must also receive their usual hourly pay from their employer during the hours of training. Government employees are not eligible.

Space is limited. For more information about these individual courses, or to register, please visit sussex.edu/workforce-training.
