Harness the power of optics and turn it into a rewarding industrial career through the degree option from Sussex County Community College.  SCCC will be holding several Virtual Information Sessions to discuss the program and careers in this growing field.

Choose a date below to talk to Admissions and professors during this Virtual Information Session:

The Associate in Applied Science degree in Optics Technology program prepares students to apply the study of sight and behavior of light to a manufacturing setting, readying them to become a successful technician in the optics industry.

The program develops all skills necessary for a career in optics technology. Students will learn advanced skills in understanding technical drawings and how to turn them into reality through the use of both conventional and computer numerical controlled machines, like grinding and polishing systems. Safety, equipment handling, inspection, and ethics as related to the industry will also be covered. The focus will be given to using both the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Military specifications to execute inspection plans.

SCCC also offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science course in Machine Tool Technology. This expanded program helps students develop advanced skills in planning, designing, and producing CAD prints. They also learn programming, setup, and operation of the machine tools needed to produce precision parts to exacting specifications.
