Sussex/Ramapo 3+1 Program

8/1/2023 1:04:09 PM

The new 3+1 Bachelor’s Degree Path with Sussex County Community College (SCCC) and Ramapo College of New Jersey (RCNJ) gives students substantial cost savings on earning a bachelor’s degree.

SCCC students and prospective students working toward a bachelor’s degree with this unique agreement can save thousands compared to those who transfer after earning their associate degree. Students can remain on SCCC’s campus while taking the third year of Ramapo’s bachelor’s degree curriculum. Students will take their fourth-year curriculum on Ramapo’s Mahwah campus.

The approved programs include Global Studies and Business, Social Science focusing on Criminal Justice, and Psychology. Qualified community college professors will teach junior-year courses and hold the same credentials as professors who teach at four-year institutions. They have a strong educational background and sometimes an industry background as well.

“We feel this will offer area residents an incredibly cost-effective way to pursue their four-year degree,” said Dr. Kathleen Okay, Senior Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs at SCCC. “We are delighted to begin this partnership with Ramapo College on this initiative, as both institutions already have an established history of collaborative ventures through various articulation agreements. It is a win for the students and the county!”

Students must apply and be accepted into the Advanced Associates of Continuous Studies at SCCC before enrolling in courses for the 3+1 Bachelor’s Degree Path. Once accepted, students are required to meet with a designated Ramapo College counselor who will assist them toward their successful transition to the four-year college to earn their bachelor’s degree.
