Students at Sussex County Technical School (SCTS) can now graduate high school and have the credentials to start a rewarding career.

Sussex County Community College (SCCC) and Sussex Technical High School have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to allow SCTS students to earn college credits for a Medical Assistant certification while attending high school.

An MOU is a signed agreement that is less formal than a legal contract but outlines the intent and responsibilities of each party involved. SCCC came to an agreement that would allow high school students at SCTS to take courses both at SCTS and SCCC so they can work towards their certification as Medical Assistants. The MOU describes the expectations of the students' responsibilities from application to completion.

Students who complete the necessary courses will be eligible to sit for any National Commission for Certifying Agencies accredited Medical Assistant National Certification Exam. Passing the exam will allow students to start their career right out of high school or transfer those credentials to 4-year college.
