Scholarship Spotlight

Sussex County Community College Foundation is pleased to award Pike County resident and Sussex student, Tyler Fitzgerald, with a scholarship towards his studies in Fire Science. The Foundation learned that Tyler’s father, unfortunately, passed away on August 8th, just before the start of the school year.

Tyler’s community rallied around him with a successful Go Fund Me Campaign raising nearly $4000.

“We care a great deal about the Pike County Community and the students that it brings to Sussex. We are delighted to be able to help Tyler” states Monica Lemperle, Director of the Foundation at Sussex.

Tyler is enjoying this program which is designed to serve the career and volunteer firefighter, industrial fire protection personnel, fire protection specialist or the recent high school graduate who has an interest in fire service. “I am thankful to the College Foundation and all the others who have supported me this year” states Tyler.

The SCCC Foundation raises funds to support student scholarships and college programs. Seventy percent of students at Sussex rely on financial assistance towards their studies.
