Media Day at Sussex

Throughout the month of March, Sussex County Community College’s Communications and Broadcasting Department coordinated interviews with the Skylanders’ Athletic Programs.

Media Day interviews include testimonials from coaches and players within all of the Sussex programs including Baseball, Basketball, Esports, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, and Wrestling.

One of the most talked-about topics this season is the Sussex Skylanders Football team. They officially played their first-ever junior college football game in the state of New Jersey on March 28th.

Though they found themselves a formidable opponent in the Lackawanna Falcons, whose last game was the 2019 NJCAA National Championship Game, the final score of 37-7 is no indication of how prepared this team is to make waves for Sussex County. The historical game marks the kickoff of a Skylanders football program that will continue to grow and evolve in the years ahead.

Of course, it should also be noted that women’s and men’s Soccer are currently ranked 5th and 7th in the nation, respectively. Not to mention the start of two new programs, Wrestling and Esports which began last year.

For high school student-athletes considering where to attend college, Sussex offers a diverse range of athletic programs so students can continue pursuing their passion while obtaining a valuable degree.
