Meet the Director

Nancy R. Gallo, J.D., is the Director of the Senior Life Center at SCCC She founded the Center in 2015 to bring topics to the Center that promote invigorating lifelong learning for Sussex County seniors at the College’s convenient Newton location. Professor Gallo is also the College’s Legal Studies Program Coordinator and in that role teaches courses leading to the Elder Law Specialist Certificate, as well as the Paralegal Certificate, Degree and Pre-Law Option Degree.

Professor Gallo has practiced law in both Florida and New Jersey and was trained by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education as a certified mediator. Prior to law school, she was a newspaper features editor and award-winning reporter. While an SCCC faculty member, Dr. Gallo received a National Endowment for the Humanities funded grant for the study, “Paul Robeson, 20th Century Humanist and Lawyer.”

Professor Gallo is the author of the textbooks, “Introduction to Family Law” published as part of the West Legal Studies Series, and “Elder Law” published by Delmar/Thompson Publishing.

Additionally, Dr. Gallo was the writer and producer of “Legal Briefs,” a radio show. She has a primary research interest in elder law and the issues of aging in the 21st century life. Dr. Gallo lives in a restored 160 year old farmhouse on a family farm with her husband, children and two completely bonded Dachshunds.
